Las Animas Middle School Program

Las Animas Middle School Program

Right On Learning also utilizes blended learning with other programs, most notably the partnership with Las Animas school district. This tutoring program creates a hybrid of tutor guided online and in-person learning to alleviate the difficulties of obtaining educational support in more rural areas. Through online assessment tests and teacher recommendations, students are grouped in various skill levels and assigned to a specific tutor. These small groups meet weekly to review in-class work and strengthen concepts that students are currently engaged in in the classroom. Students responded enthusiastically to the entertaining aspects of online learning as well as the personal relate-ability during in-person sessions. Students enrolled in this program improved on average 9 RIT points for seventh graders and 7 RIT points for eighth graders during the twelve weeks of this program in 2016. The district has requested an additional twelve weeks in the coming school year.

As one of the most recent projects, ROL is provided on-site and online tutoring in math for 7-8 grade students. The majority of these students come from low-income or an ELL family. ROL is providing tutors to give math assistance to these students, as well as become a mentor to encourage students to further their education. ROL will also be supporting parents by providing education resources to help them advance their students education path and for career readiness. ROL is dedicated to augmenting student graduation rate by increasing grades in math and continually teaching students a variety of study skills.
