Douglas County Educational Navigator

Right On Learning has been contracted by Douglas County Human Services to provide an Educational Navigator to improve the educational outcome of children in the child welfare system by working directly with children and their families as well as facilitating positive system change through coordination, advocacy and policy development.

Right On Learning works to ensure educational services are being provided and information for best interest determination are gathered and shared with stakeholders. Right On Learning works with child welfare children and youth who have or are currently experiencing out of home or foster care placement. We work directly with children and their families as well as with multiple systems and agencies: schools, court, probation.

The Educational Navigator duties include, but are not limited to, monitoring academic progress, attending special education staffing’s and to provide advocacy for alternative educational plans and/or schools for youth in accordance with the needs of the youth and their family. The Navigator works with families to stabilize their child(ren) in an educational setting and maintain communication and positive working relationships with schools, community colleges, community groups, service providers to advocate for the educational needs and educational success of the youth served. The Navigator assists in planning and facilitating effective transitions for students entering and exiting schools or other educational placements.

New Arapahoe/Douglas Works! and Right On Learning Mentoring Services!   

Arapahoe/Douglas Works! will partner with Right On Learning to identify appropriate and eligible participants, 16 and older, for referral to ROL's mentoring services. ROL's mentoring program has the goal of building positive relationships with referred participants, creating sustainable and manageable plans for success, and completing objectives that lead to successful outcomes.

Right On Learning has recently been awarded Arapahoe/Douglas Works! Tutoring, Study Skills, & Dropout Prevention program!  Arapahoe/Douglas Works! will partner with Right On Learning to provide tutoring, study skills, and dropout prevention to Arapahoe/Douglas Works! participants.

Jefferson Jr./Sr. High School
